The Observatory Property
The Moeller Observatory is located in the Southern end of Adams County Ohio, near Wrightsville and just East of Manchester. It is about a 90-minute drive from downtown Cincinnati to the facility.
The property represents over 900 acres of land, and is just west of the Edge of Appalachia Preserve, the largest private nature preserve in the State of Ohio. The property also sits right across route 247 from the Whipple State Nature Preserve.
The observatory sits on a high elevation that overlooks the Ohio River, offering stunning vistas and clear horizons for observing. The main body of the property sits almost on a plateau of sorts shielded from Route 52 along the river and Route 247 which traverses between Rt 52 and West Union Ohio.
The terrain is very hilly with miles of trails, and from the lowest area to the peak of the observatory, represents a change in elevation of about 400 feet.
